Executive Coaching...

Business Challenge

Executives need to balance learning with managing their image as leaders. One practical way to do this is to work with an executive coach, a relationship in which it is safe to explore and where you can have an opportunity to talk more freely than you may have done with anyone about your own dreams and business challenges. In the context of coaching, you can talk about things that you feel pain and passion about—and really get at the core issues for yourself, your team, and the organization. Of course, the sheer level of emotion in these conversations is sometimes far beyond what typically occurs in business, so the coaching relationship must be trusting and totally confidential.

Program

Executive coaching is intended as an intense, one-on-one, customized and personalized program between coach and executive. An SCG coach is part mentor, part challenger, part sounding board, and part cheering section. The coach works closely with you to help you gain a greater understanding of your situation. The sessions are targeted and focused on your needs, and the coach works in an objective way through addressing challenging and provocative questions, creating alternative solutions and options, and establishing priorities and deadlines to help make sure new skills and habits are developed and integrated.

Often feedback from peers and subordinates is solicited so the issues that stand in the way of personal development and performance are identified. The program may also involve initial discussions with other executives. You receive feedback on a wide range of interpersonal skills. Goals are set, action plans are created and implemented, and you and the coach work together regularly either by telephone or in person. Through a series of positive, constructive, and candid discussions, you receive the information necessary to implement changes that lead to long-term career development.
